Ingredients

2 Trader Joe’s Puff Pastry Sheets
1 egg
½ cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cornstarch

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
3-4 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and diced into small pieces

2 tablespoons raisins (optional)
Granulated sugar for sprinkling on top

Directions

Thaw the pastry sheet at room temperature for 40 minutes or until it’s easy to handle.

Heat the oven to 425°F. Lightly grease a baking sheet. Beat the egg and water in a small bowl with a fork.

Mix the sugar, cornstarch and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Add the apples and raisins if using, mixing until evenly coated with the sugar mixture.

Working with one sheet at a time, unfold the pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Roll the pastry sheet into a 16 x 12-inch rectangle. Spoon the apple mixture down the center (long way) of the pastry. Fold the right side and then the left side over the apple mixture, pressing edges to seal.

Place seam-side up on the baking sheet. Brush the pastry with the egg mixture. Cut several 2-inch-long slits 2 inches apart on the top, making sure to cut through the pastry.

Repeat with the second sheet.

Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden. Cool on the baking sheet on a wire rack for 30 minutes. Sprinkle with the granulated sugar.
