Add one more recipe to the never-ending quest for the perfect chocolate chip cookie!
Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cup flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 14 Tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 egg + 1 egg yolk
- 1 1/4 cups chips
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees; line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Whisk flour and baking soda together.
- Melt 10 Tbsp butter in a skillet over medium high heat. Cook, swirling constantly, until butter is dark golden brown, 1-3 minutes.
- Transfer butter to large bowl and stir in remaining 4 Tbsp butter until melted.
- Whisk in both sugars, vanilla, and salt.
- Whisk in egg and egg yolk until smooth, about 30 seconds.
- Let mixture stand for 3 minutes; whisk for 30 seconds. Repeat 2 more times.
- With rubber spatula, stir in flour mixture until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips.
- For large cookies, use 3 Tbsp of dough – roll into balls and space out on prepared sheets.
- Bake until golden brown and edges have set but centers are still soft and puffy, 10-14 minutes.
- Cool completely on baking sheet.
