Black Beans in the Instant Pot

Easy to make, and no soaking required.

Start to finish: 45 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 pound dry black beans
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/2 yellow onion, sliced in rounds
  • 2 garlic cloves, sliced in half
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 bay leaves

Directions

  1. Place all ingredients in your Instant Pot, turn the steam release valve to sealing, and put the lid on your Instant Pot.
  2. Set your Instant Pot to cook on manual for 22 minutes.
  3. Allow to natural release for 10 minutes and then release the steam. Steam will release for a few seconds—be careful because it will be hot!
  4. Carefully turn the lid and remove.
  5. Give the beans a good stir.
